Review for Delivery Only: I was quite sick a few days ago and decided to get some Chinese delivery since I didn't want to leave the house, in my experience Chinese delivery is always wishful thinking, its always sub par and cold when you get it. But I was really taken back by the prompt service and quality of the food. I ordered the General Tsao, Hot n Sour soup, and Cream Cheese Puffs, all for $15 bucks delivered they also threw in some great fried rice and a tasty Egg Roll. It didn't cure my cold, but it sure as hell filled me up, didn't make me feel sick, and got here in a reasonable amount of time for a Friday Night. Going to be my Go-to for Chinese food Delivery from now on in St Paul.

I order from here at least twice a month. Food is consistently delicious. I've tried many (delivery) Asian restaurants over the years and New Asia Express is my favorite, thus far!

Great all around Asian delivery restaurant. We've definitely enjoyed all our meals from New Asia.

Don't Buy! Worst take out experience I've ever had. I've ordered from New Asia before and only negative comment I could say was there was dry rice and not so friendly customer service. Everything else was good. First I get RARE chicken wings, then when I call, they refuse to give me a refund because I called the next day.... mind you I got the food at closing so even if I discovered the rare chicken immediately.... the establishment would be closed. Oh and btw, the rice was dry and crunchy. The only positive thing I would say is I liked the fortune cookies.

I usually eat here a lot!!! My family, my boyfriend family, everyone I know eats here!! After today I'm never eating here again!! My boyfriend Oder some noodles and I went in for a bite and seen that there was some type of staple in it!! Never will I eat here again!!

Horrible!! Ordered sesame chicken and cream cheese wontons fir lunch. Chicken was bone dry inside and out.. Overlooked. Cream cheese are a tiny bit of cream cheese with the rest being wonton.. Weird to eat! I guess for waiting just shy of an hour, it was definitely not worth my time or $12.

For Chinese delivery, New Asia Express is FANTASTIC!! They are our #1 go-to restaurant for ordering in. They even came to us when it was -40 degrees! They have come to us in a snowstorm, they come no matter what! Plus, their food is perfect perfect each time. I saw where someone's review complained that their food arrived with the temperature of the food being too HOT. Really, people??? How in the world do you default a delivery for that???? We like that they have all the indulgent-fried foods for your cravings, and all the steamed and healthy foods for your diet. Win-win! I can't eat enough of their vegetable lo mein.... Ohhhhh man.... If you have little kids, they even have kids meals on the menu. :) I have never been inside their restaurant, just ordered delivery.

It's OK- if you absolutely HAVE to have Chinese and need it delivered. I just finished some of it and this is the first time I've thrown out cream cheese puffs. They have an odd aftertaste that makes me think the oil was pretty dirty, the breading is heavy-handed and way too dense. Ditto for the steamed pork dumplings; they have a bland filling and the wrapper is so thick that you won't even notice the filling. It was literally as thick and chewy as a rigatoni noodle. They all look perfectly cloned too, so I'm guessing they are NOT made in-house. Shame on me- I thought the exact same thing last time, but forgot until I ate one today. Everything else I've tried here has been passable, but on the boring side. The General Tso wings are labeled as spicy, but they're not. The crab Rangoon tastes amazingly similar to the cream cheese puffs, and I detected almost zero crab flavor. For seafood lovers, I'd stick with the shrimp only; it's large and was cooked well (in an underwhelming sauce). Their scallops are the "bay" variety (tiny) and are mushy and flavorless. Also, they use imitation crab meat, but of course the menu just lists "crab". There's a reason that nothing on the menu is over $12, no matter how much "seafood" is in it... Anyone who's says this place is amazing either works there or has never tried Chinese food anywhere else. Don't believe the hype- this place is truly mediocre on its best day. I believe their delivery service is the only reason they're surviving, and with Bite Squad on the scene, I think their days are numbered.

Was convinced this would be a solid choice for American-style Chinese takeway, but it was a serious disappointment. Ordered the General Tso's Chicken and Orange Chicken dinners, Shrimp Toast and Won Ton soup - the chicken tasted exactly the same in both containers. The description on the orange chicken promised orange peels, but there was not even an essence of orange. The egg rolls and shrimp toast were gross and tasted of old oil, the chicken fried rice offered flavorless slices of chicken seemingly added as an after-thought. Lo-mein was basic and uninteresting. Yes, this place is not terribly expensive - but for a $23 tab, we expected something better than microwaved. Would not order again.

This is place is fantastic and best place for Chinese food in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Food was delicious, hot and spicy and they are quick and friendly... confusion is totally on menu what to choose with in list of hundred of items...

I have been ordering from this restaurant for years and was fairly "satisfied" with what I've gotten before, up until this last week. This last week was *the last straw*.I ordered 2 kinds of soup (egg drop and wonton). The wonton had; at the very least an inch of grease floating on top and when I opened the egg drop I was OVERWHELMED with the odor of rotten egg. I immediately flushed both down the toilet & called them immediately and they asked what I wanted in exchange-we finally agreed that with my next order, I would receive 2 free soups at that time; however order that remains to be seen. The entrees I ordered were beef chow fun and sesame chicken which were also sadly lacking any real quality. The s. chicken had about 4 sprigs of broccoli in what was supposed to be a large order and the chow fun was overwhelmingly composed of noodles--not much beef at all. I have seen the quality of this restaurant's food slide further & further downhill over the last year and I sincerely doubt I will order ANYTHING from them ever again because of this factor. It makes me sad because there are very few Asian restaurants that deliver downtown and I am disabled so I am often put in a position where delivery is my only option.and I am very fond of Asian food of all kinds.

The Hunan shrimp and the veggie fried rice were very good. The egg drop soup was as well but needed to be hotter. The sweet and sour chicken was more like sweet chicken, no sour element to be found. Service was fast and friendly. Good fast Chinese food and a huge menu with choices to make most happy. We will be back.

I placed the order online, and they called me back immediately to confirm. I was told 45 minutes, and it arrived in 30, which was awesome because I was starving! They called when they arrived, and he was very friendly. The food was all really delicious (particularly the egg roll), and the portion size is quite large, so I will have two days of leftovers for lunch!

I will not go back here. The food was fine, but the delivery guy was so rude, I was beside myself. I ordered, he said 40 minutes (didnt say it might be less). He showed up in 15. I was in the shower, so he headed back with the food. I called him asap. He got really rude with me and said, "You need to wait by the phone. I cant come back now." I said I was sorry, but I thought 40 minutes." He said, "Maybe it is less, you need to be by your phone." Then he hung up. He later came back with the food, but he hung up and was rude, then when he got here he kept arguing with me about it. I found the customer service to be unprofessional, immature, and obnoxious. Peking Garden was way friendlier, has just as much variety, and they dont have MSG either. :-) Good luck!

I recently attempted to order online but was having trouble getting the site to accept my credit card. I eventually gave up, and figured the order never went through, since New Asia ALWAYS calls to confirm a successful online order. When my bank statement came weeks later, I learned that I had in fact been charged, but no food was ever delivered. I would now advise to steer clear of the online ordering process.

I've been driving past this place for years. I don' t know why I've never stopped in?They have a website where you can order the food online, which is pretty handy.I was craving Chinese food today, like always, and wanted to try something different. Tired of going to buffets. I ordered the sesame chicken lunch combo. It cost me less than $6. The rations were very generous. I almost didn't finish it.Their prices are cheaper than most take out places and their food is great. Taste way better than Mai Village or Little Schezuan and their service is fast. They'll have your food ready for pickup if you order online or over the phone within 10 minutes. They also deliver, but I work close to them so I don't mind driving through the ghetto to save on the delivery charge and tip.My only complaint is that they pack so much food in such a small container. It's hard to eat when the container is overflowing with such delicious food. I had to remove some chicken to get at the fried rice.I also ordered some Vietnamese style egg rolls. They were pretty decent too, but not as good as the ones from a Vietnamese restaurant.I usually pay $8 for buffet, but their food never tastes as good compared to take out. I would much rather eat here, than at a Chinese buffet. I'm on a diet so I don't need all-you-can-eat to fatten me up.. IT IS WORTH TO TRY.

Second Chances...Haven't found a ton of great chinese places by us, and this place delivered so decided to give it a second chance after the first bad experience. A bit reluctant to order the egg foo young again, but it was pretty good this time. Egg rolls are a tad too greasy. When the grease saturates the little white bag, that's a bad sign. -Received a free order of cream cheese puffs which were really good. -Beef Fried Rice was very good -Sesame Chicken was said to be good. Will maybe start ordering from this place again. On line ordering option and delivery always a big plus in my book.

My friend and I ordered New Asia delivery yesterday as Chinese food on Christmas Day is a tradition for me. The online ordering process went smoothly and the food arrived just over 45 minutes after we placed our order, on the early end of the range I was given. We each ordered a dinner special, which includes chicken fried rice and an egg roll. Everything could have been a bit warmer when it arrived. I liked that the fried rice wasn't very oily. The sweet and sour chicken was the standard dish I've come to expect from Americanized Chinese restaurants, and my friend gobbled down his sesame chicken, saying he was surprised at how good it was. There are definitely better, healthier, more authentic places in town for Chinese cuisine, but if you have a craving and want delivery (especially on a holiday when options are limited), New Asia will hit the spot

So, I've ordered twice more since my original review. Both times it was delivery at work, and the online ordering and customer service were excellent. I must have caught them on a bad day the first time I ordered from them, because the food has been much better the other two times. I've knocked off one star because I think the deep friend items are a little too "oily" tasting, but overall the food quality and portion sizes are good.

This is my favorite Chinese place. I understand the bad reviews, I really do, but honestly what do you expect? This isn't gourmet. It's cheap, generic Chinese food at a very low price. But this place is more than that. I usually get the plain fried rice and cream cheese puffs. You can get 12 puffs for a couple dollars and they give you a big tub of their red sweet and sour sauce with it! I end up pouring it on everything and saving some to cook with later. The plain fried rice has a great flavor and there are no veggies or meat or scallions or anything. Just flavorful rice. I normally never eat meat from Chinese restaurants due to past experiences, but this is the only place that I'll eat the chicken at. The chicken fried rice is FANTASTIC. All white meat chicken, very tender, no fat, veins, or other gross stuff. and it's not the tiny minced pieces where you wonder, "Is this chicken or pork? dog? monkey?" It's big strips of chicken. No mystery meat here. Conclusion: cream cheese puffs, rice, chicken, prices, flavor, sweet and sour sauce = good.

I ordered dinner from here at 630 pm. The delivery didn't get to my house until 8:20 pm! I was told it might be 1 hour but seriously almost 2 hours and they forgot to add my order or general tso chicken! My total was $27 for some stupid sweet and sour chicken fried rice and cream cheese won tons. Worst $27 I ever spent. NEVER ordering from here again! Bad customer service! Don't lie to the customers about the wait time and learn how to repeat orders back! Wasted almost 2 hours waiting for shitty made food. I give this place a negative star!

Always my go-to place to get good, decent, Asian food in the hood. They will deliver but I actually enjoy going there and sitting down. Just park in the little parking lot on the side of the building and stroll on in. They are always friendly and efficient. The prices are great and the food is always fresh and hot. I have never been disappointed with my food here. The Crab rangoon and sweet and sour chicken and General Chicken are always winners...

The lunch special and dinner special are a great deal and super affordable. I've had the Garlic Chicken for about 8 years and I still love it! General Tso's chicken, potstickers, and cream cheese wontons are also personal favorites in my family. General Tso's can be a little spicy but my little boy loves it!

I would rather eat Dog food then this ! I found a small thing in my food that looks like a small tail. I would not eat at this place an y more. I looked back in the kitchen and it looked dirty . Last time! Do not wast your money or time !

Finally I found a Chinese Restaurant that delivers to us!! I was at the nail salon earlier this week and while my nails were drying, I overheard someone ordering Chinese delivery and asked them the name,so, despite the not-so-good reviews on yelp, I went with her raving recommendation, and I am so glad I did!! I was a little worried they wouldn't deliver to us because we were a little over the 3 mile limit on delivering but they did deliver so we anxiously waited for our first Chinese delivery in several years!! We ordered: Crab Rangoon, Sesame Shrimp, General Tso's chicken, and fried/white rice. Crab Rangoon was really good with a generous side of Sweet-n-Sour Sauce. Sesame Shrimp was awesome and the shrimp were extra large and again, a very generous portion with broccoli. General Tso's chicken was really good, not too much breading, and from what I could see, all white meat. This entree was literally big enough for two to three people. The fried rice was good and again, all white meat chicken in the chicken fried rice. We ordered this amount of food for three people but it was enough for five people at least. I am very happy we tried New Asia and we will most definitely order from here again as long as they keep delivering to us! Please don't let the bad reviews dissuade you from ordering here, we found no "foreign" objects in our food and it seemed to be very high quality.

I ordered delivery from here with my bf last night. It was fairly decent for the price of about 20 dollars for their dinner special and with all extra things tacked on (delivery, tip, etc, etc) between the two of us. I got the szcheuan beef, my bf got the shrimp lo mein. Neither were particularly "great" but for the price, they were worth it. The egg rolls we probably would not have bought had they not come with the dinner special but since they were included, they were *okay*. Not great but okay. The pork wontons though were fairly good and reasonably priced. I would say its worth ordering takeout from here if you're in Midway area in St. Paul. My 2 cents. A love it or hate it joint.

I was craving Chinese late last night and had seen the New Asia car in my neighborhood so I checked up on them here on Yelp and decided to try them. I placed my order online, and within 5 mins someone called my phone just like they said they would. Online it only gives you the cash payment option, but they asked over the phone if I wanted to pay with a credit card, so if you don't have cash on you don't worry about it. Delivery was very fast (though they hedged their bets and told me it would be 45-60mins, they came in about 20-25mins) and I would agree that they are definitely reasonably priced and the amount of food (and meat) is decent. As for flavor, it is "good" Chinese if you are in the mood for Americanized Chinese food, very tasty and fresh ingredients (I got the Happy Family - loved it, tons of super fresh crisp veggies and a good amount of large pieces of recognizable meat) but if you abhor any sauce that's a bit greasy or are on a low-sodium diet, like most Asian food here in the States, this is a killer. Almost too salty actually, especially the lo-mein. The sauce for the lo-mein was a bit heavy too, although it was definitely tasty. One worrisome thing, kind of, was the containers that they deliver in. Thin plastic, and while I was happy at how hot everything was (screamed "FRESH!" when I opened it) I was not so happy at how the hotness had literally melted holes in the lid (and sloshed sauce all over) and warped the sides of the containers. Mmmmmmmm, plastic!!! I personally prefer the food at the Cleveland Wok, and someone was mentioning to me the other day that they might deliver now too (?) so I'll check into that. If the Wok delivers, then I'm really all set, but their hours are not as late as New Asia's and I think they are closed one day a week (Sunday or Monday?). New Asia seems to be a valid option though for late-night Chinese delivery around here, and I would use them again.

First time ordering: I ordered online, immediately received a confirmation call with an estimated delivery time of 45 minutes. An hour later, I called to see where my order was. When I received it, the food looks, feels, and tastes like it has been sitting for quite some time. The delivery driver and person I spoke to both times on the phone were friendly and easy to understand, prices are reasonable but I am disappointed with the delivery time and food quality.

Felt lazy and was in the mood for some take out. Wanted to try a new spot and have been seeing a coupon for this place in prior mailings. Service- Went to get the take out order and it seemd like 14 y/o and younger girls were helping us out lol. child laborr!!! jkjk They gave accurate change though :) Food- crazy amount considering how cheap it was! Definately didn't finish all of the food. I think it was like $7 or less for some fried rice and general tsao chicken. There was a good amount because it didnt come in the usual chinese take outbox. It came in the black plastic containers that can be re-useable!!!(they come in pretty handy) Overall- A lot of food for cheap = chinese takoute.. Will probably come back for some fast late night eats!! fyi, didn't even use the coupon. If we did that would've been wayyyyyyyy too much leftovers

Fresh food, good prices, fast delivery. They actually delivered to us during a snow storm this year and it only took like 45 minutes from beginning of phone call to food on the table for us to enjoy. And the food was all still hot and very fresh! Great fried rice and sweet and sour chicken!

My go to place for Americanized chinese food in a non-derogatory sense. This is the chinese food I grew up eating, and i still have a love for it, plus you cant beat quality delivery in an area with sparse non-pizza options. This is the kind of place you want to go or get delivered when you're craving those classics like sweet and sour pork, general tso's chicken (my favorite,) Beef and Broccoli, etc. Their appetizers like cream cheese wontons, egg rolls, fried shrimp, etc. are also served hot and fresh. Service is laid back and friendly and the restaurant is obviously family owned as the children often wait on you. I think this place is exactly what you would hope for in a quality chinese takeout/delivery restaurant, and their lunch specials are huge and well priced. Something like 7 dollars for a huge amount of entree of your choice, fried rice, and an eggroll. Highly recommended.

What can I say.... New Asia is your typical Chinese-American restaurant. This place is located on a semi-sketchy stretch of University Avenue in St. Paul at Lexington Parkway. I used to order from here during my college days and even went to eat at their location once. I've heard that the food is not as good now as it used to be in years past but it's still my go-to for Chinese Delivery in the St. Paul area. The food is really good and you will feel like you've swallowed a bucket of grease afterwards. That can be a good thing, or a bad thing, depending on your point of view. They have some really good deals on meals and I always get the orange or sesame chicken. Their delivery is pretty fast, it usually only takes 1/2 an hour or 45 minutes. Pretty good for chinese delivery, not so much for eating at the restaurant. Location is questionable and the atmosphere ... well ... what atmosphere?

    (2)
  • Jack P.

So I had what I think was "chow mein," which in New Asia's dictionary means a giant tupperware cylinder of nefarious black goo and a small handful of crispy noodles on the side. Truly disgusting. I don't really even know how to classify it. So minus one star. The singapore chow fun is still a winner though. Find a good dish and stick with it: lesson learned.

Stumbled across this place on yelp, and am very happy I went out on a limb. Finally a good option for your basic "American" Chinese food delivery in my area. Ordered General Tso's Chicken, Veggie Fried Rice, and Beef w/ Broccoli. Portions were VERY generous (yay leftovers!), veggies were fresh, chicken was all white-meat and had a lovely zippy sauce. It's not fancy, but it's great quality for the money. I've had some disappointing chinese food in the area, so this was refreshing!

I've never been here, but have had delivery. I don't know what it is that after having major surgery this is the first meal I want because I'm not up to cooking. Very large portions and fairly cheap and fast. I always get hunan chicken, tender with lots of gravy and broccoli. Basil got the happy family, same all over I suppose, a tangy, thick brown sauce. I like the egg roll sauce. In the past I have had the crab rangoon, and cream cheese puffs. Large pieces, served with a generous amount of sweet and sour sauce. The worst fortune cookies I ever had, tasted like cardboard, and yes I have tasted cardboard. When your done your clothes and house will stink, love it.

ok, i normally try to base my star rating on food alone, but in this case, i had to deduct a star because delivery took an hour! and we only live a couple of miles away! the food was ok. we got kung pao chicken, it had lots of veggies and peanuts in it, which is a definite plus. but i hate it when they give you such tiny chunks of chicken, and it wasn't really spicy at all. we also got the general tso's chicken, which was a little dry, but more spicy and flavorful. also, the wonton soup was ok. i prefer a lighter broth but the flavor wasn't bad, just different than expected. yes, this place will do to soothe a chinese craving. but we're still looking for something better. the portions are huge and the prices are low, so if you want to eat for a few days off of $15, this is the place. so let me give that star back now... ;)

I am never going to this place again and here's why: 1) They've gotten my order wrong multiple times over the phone and don't apologize for it. 2) You will find random objects in your food such as staples. I once ordered vegetable chow fun and found a chicken bone in it. Once again, they don't apologize when you tell them.

good, cheap food, kitschy chinese decor, red vinyl booths, and some off-street parking, make this a place worth going to,if you are in the mood, for good, cheap chinese food, that won't bust the budget.take out availible.you can also phone in your order, and they will deliver,if you live within,a specific radius,of saint paul.this place, has'nt been open too long, but they seem to do,good buisness.i recommend this place,to all the colledge kids,on a budget, looking for some cheap eats.they take credit cards, cash, and i think personal checks too.

Pretty good for chinese delivery, not so much for eating at the restaurant. Location is questionable and the atmosphere ... well ... what atmosphere?

Fresh food, good prices, fast delivery. They actually delivered to us during a snow storm this year and it only took like 45 minutes from beginning of phone call to food on the table for us to enjoy. And the food was all still hot and very fresh! Great fried rice and sweet and sour chicken!

If we did that would've been wayyyyyyyy too much leftovers

ok, i normally try to base my star rating on food alone, but in this case, i had to deduct a star because delivery took an hour! and we only live a couple of miles away! the food was ok. we got kung pao chicken, it had lots of veggies and peanuts in it, which is a definite plus. but i hate it when they give you such tiny chunks of chicken, and it wasn't really spicy at all. we also got the general tso's chicken, which was a little dry, but more spicy and flavorful. also, the wonton soup was ok. i prefer a lighter broth but the flavor wasn't bad, just different than expected. yes, this place will do to soothe a chinese craving. but we're still looking for something better. the portions are huge and the prices are low, so if you want to eat for a few days off of $15, this is the place. so let me give that star back now...

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
